It’s creepy. I don’t understand it. Maybe he’s adding more fibre to his diet. Maybe he’s gotten a windfall. Maybe, just maybe, he’s getting laid. Or grew a personality. But whatever the case, Dr Weanus is being nice.
The last few weeks he’s been kind and thoughtful, sweet and forbearing with all the trivial irritations of the Emergency Department. No hissy fits about missing lab results, no yelling, no temper tantrums, no drama.
Even when an antiemetic wasn’t given to his mildly nauseated patient — we were running one of those seemingly endless codes where the patient wouldn’t do this sensible thing and stick to one cardiac rhythm — which normally would cause a complete meltdown and the usual tirade about nursing incompetence, he merely remarked on how the department comes to a standstill during during a code blue.
This is seriously weirding me out.* He needs to stop.
___________
*That he is engaging in some sort of warped, bizarre psychological warfare with the Emergency staff has also occurred to me.

I had a boss like this. I agree with your underlying potential causes.
There are so who profess being terribly kind and sweet to such a person, it throws them off. ‘Are you having a bad day?’ but, then YOU”D like like the one weirded out!

My vote is for psychological warfare. Works every time. Beware a month from now when you smile and say hello and he reaches out and eats a small child just to ruin your day.

Dr. Weanus sounds like Dr. Bipolar at my emerg. When you first meet him, he’s incredibly charming and seems like a nice guy. Then you get exposed to his hissy fits and his bitchiness which is when you know that you’re screwed. This guy’s mood swings are so unpredictable that it’s almost impossible to work with him.
Take advantage of his down time and prepare a psychological offensive of your own!
