Woke up and saw this on the front page of the Globe and Mail. A 59-year old guy is dead because EMS was too frightened to drive up to a middle-class apartment building in the middle of the gay village.
Gross negligence or gross incompetence, or maybe a combination of both?
Or maybe something a little darker — like homophobia? You have to wonder: the gay village during Pride Week — and one of the paramedics was quoted as saying, “tens of thousands of people out”.
Hmmm. As they say, just sayin’.
Anyway, another argument why paramedics ought to be dragged into the 21st century and into the Regulated Health Professions Act, with a College of Paramedics of Ontario.
And I hope the victim’s partner gets a huge settlement for such a gross breach of public trust.
