Role modelling and mentoring was so important to nurses and nursing students. We are trying to bring that back. Volunteer nurses are making themselves available to schools of nursing to speak to students about the importance of becoming part of “the family of nurses” – joining the professional organizations eg RNAO. RNAO has reduced fees for student membership and there are many benefits for the students. ONA encourages student nurses to be aware of labour issues that affect nursing practice.
Nurses need to know nursing history and be very proud of this nursing history. Knowing the history of our profession guides us into our future.
